Lee Roy Tucker was born March 18, 1942 in Haileyville, Oklahoma. He attended Kiowa High School, graduating in 1960. He enrolled in Oklahoma Barber College after high school, graduating in 1961. He has received extensive training beyond his barber college curriculum including Roffler-Tondeo Prep Demo Classes and Espan School of Advanced Hair Design in Milano, Italy. In addition he took a Dale Carnage Public Speaking course.
Lee Roy has owned his own shop, Tucker’s Style Shop, since 1964. His shop was recognized in 2002 by USA Today as one of the 10 Best Barber Shops to receive a haircut and a shave.
He was co-owner and instructor at the Academy of Hair Design from 1977-78 located in Del City, Oklahoma.
From 1967-71 and again 1991-2007, Lee Roy was on the Oklahoma State Board of Barber Examiners. He served as a member and Chairman on the Oklahoma Barber Board from 1991to the present. He served as President of the National Association of Barber Boards of America from 2000-02.
Lee Roy was awarded Oklahoma Stylist of the Year in 1973 and the U.F.C.W. National Stylist of the Year in 1984. He also was owner of a Barber School from 1997-1980.
Lee Roy is married to Janie and they have one daughter, Sandra and a son Randall. A granddaughter and grandson complete the family.
Lee Roy is involved with the First Baptist Church, the Optimist Club and Chamber of Commerce in Midwest City, Oklahoma.
